The growth rate of textile production in China is likely to slowdown in the remaining months of this year, according to analysts.

In the first nine months of 2013, China’s total textile industry production maintained growth, but the growth rate continued to slow, and analysts expect the growth rate to further reduce slightly this year.

From January to September 2013, Chinese textile industry industrial added value increased by about 9 percent year-on-year, which was slightly lower than the first half. While the textile sector production increased by approximately 9 percent year-on-year, garment sector output rose by approximately 8 percent and man-made fibre industry output grew by 1 percent year-on-year.

During the same period, the rate of growth of output of main categories of Chinese textile products generally declined compared to the same period last year.

According to analysts, the domestic demand for textiles and clothing is expected to generally remain stable this year, and scope for improvement is limited due to the low level of consumer confidence.

Meanwhile, the Chinese textile industry has basically completed the ‘second five’ emission reduction targets. However, the companies are still under pressure to further reduce emissions.
