Universal Fibers and DuPont Industrial Biosciences (DuPont) announced a collaboration to produce and market carpet fiber using DuPont Sorona renewably sourced polymer. The scope of the collaboration includes sales into the commercial, residential and automotive market segments. DuPont will provide its Sorona polymer to Universal Fibers for their use in producing carpet fiber to be marketed and sold under the Universal Fibers brand with DuPont Sorona.

Universal Fibers' CEO Marc Ammen said, "We are extremely pleased and excited to enhance our diverse product offering with DuPont Sorona. For more than 40 years, Universal Fibers has been an industry leader in the development and production of sustainable high performance solution dyed fiber in multiple polymers. The addition of DuPont Sorona supports this steadfast commitment, and broadens our capabilities using solution dyed technology with our best in class Universal Color system. This further supports our mission as innovative problem solvers, providing the global marketplace with superior service, color, performance, stain resistance, and renewable sustainability.”

“Sustainability is important, and combining this with exceptional products, service and the broadest solution dye color pallet in the industry is what drives us every day,” said Bill Goodman, Universal Fibers’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The features and benefits of DuPont Sorona support this commitment and we believe it to be a perfect fit for our product offering as we endeavor to bring new innovation to the market.” DuPont Sorona is made, in part, with annually renewable plant based ingredients.
