China's towel industry to promote healthy consumption

To promote sustained development of China’s domestic towel market, the Chinese towel industry will focus on promoting healthy consumption of towels.
Recently, the Vosges Group hosted the 2013 annual meeting of the China Textile Association’s Towel Committee, sponsored by the China Household Textile Industry Association, in Gaomi, Shandong province.
At the meeting, Du Huanfu, secretary of the State Committee for Standardization, introduced the concept of towels for consumer health promotion, which promoted a lively discussion among the participants, including from major brands and Zibo and Goyang industrial clusters.
It was generally agreed that in the current market marked by instability in external demand, the vast potential of domestic market must be explored.
The majority of the participants were of the view that towel manufacturing enterprises should pay more attention to the domestic market, by changing the traditional concept of towel as a daily necessity in the public mind, and gradually influence and improve the public’s spending habits on towels, thus create demand and stimulate the growth of the domestic towel industry.
Many other suggestions and comments propped up at the meeting, which included focusing on industry-standard specification towels, strengthening corporate brand building, and the role of associations.
Vosges Group managing director Sun Yong said China is in a period of rapid growth, has a huge consumer base and market foundation. Hence, the focus should be on changing consumer consumption patterns, and further improve the consumption power of the towel market and promote the sustained and healthy development of China’s towel market.
From the industry’s long-term development perspective, towels will remain irreplaceable for long, and their applications will become increasingly diversified, which provides a very good development space for towels enterprises, Yong said.
