Adana region important for Turkish textile industry: ITHIB

The southern Turkish city of Adana is a very important region for the textiles sector of the country, especially after it established protective anti-dumping measures against textile imports, said Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (ITHIB) president Ismail Gulle during his recent visit to the Adana Chambers of Industry (ADASO).
 
According to a statement issued by ADASO, the ITHIB president expressed gratitude towards ADASO chairman and general manager of the Kivanc Tekstil Company, Zeki Kivanc, stating that it was through his efforts such measures could be implemented.
 
The textile industry of the region has great potential and is very valuable of the textile sector which was saved from extinction due to the implementation of these measures, he added. The Kivanc Tekstil Company, is one of the leading textile firms in the city has also contributed greatly to the textiles sector of the region thereby accelerating development in the sector, Mr. Gulle said.
 
Mr. Gulle said the textile industry of Turkey is vital for the country’s economy but is still facing certain challenges and it is necessary that these issues are overcome with support from all the units operating in the sector.
 
At the meeting, ADASO chairman Zeki Kivanc said the textile and apparel industry together needs to fight for survival and the Adana textile industry has been taking steps for achieving better and moving forward in future.
 
The ITHIB president visited the Kivanc textile firm in the city, owned by the ADASO chairman, which is a leading producer of clothing fabrics and yarn in Adana.
