Indian cotton markets record good arrivals

MADHYA PRADESH:

During this fortnight seed cotton arrivals is around 10000 to 12000 bales daily. Ruling average prices are around Rs.40000 per candy spot for Mech-1 lots. Mill buying has begun. Quality lots are on the look out by Mills. Here again Mic. variation is noticed among lots and price variations are abnormal. Weather hindrance to Kappas transportation. DCH32 lots are in high demand with upward price brackets.

ANDHRA PARDESH:

The kappas arrivals are poor in Andhra Pradesh and kappas prices per quintal is around Rs. 4400/-.Cotton in Adilabad is sold at Rs.40,500/-spot per candy while in areas like Warangal it is sold at Rs.41,000/- Spot per candy. Local Mills in Andhra Pradesh are actively buying at the moment. Daily average arrivals are around 30000 bales. Due to Telegana bifurcation, marketing mechanism need reorientation and adjustment.

KARNATAKA:

The kappas arrivals are good in North Karnataka in areas surrounding Bijapur, Hubli, Haveri, Chitradurga, and farmers are getting kappas prices of around Rs.4650/- to Rs.4800/- per quintal while in Raichur kappas arrivals are a bit less at the moment as kappas prices are comparatively less.

Prices for good quality 30 mm bunny in Raichur and Hubli is Rs.40,500/- Spot per candy while 31 mm is sold at Rs.41,500/ -Spot per candy. Local Agricultural University has advised the Farmers that they should hold cotton kappas till February,14 to avail better price as per reports. Farmers find storage bottlenecks and lack of pledge facility.

TAMILNADU:

During this fortnight, the seed cotton arrivals have picked up and ruling prices are on upward trend. As stated in earlier reports, the crop in southern belt is in poor shape in many tracts. Yield also will be less. Mills off take is continuing as the cotton lint prices started moving upwards.

The withdrawal of 2% export incentive on cotton yarn has upset the Yarn exporters in particular. African Cotton delegation met ICF and SIMA representatives and discussed bilateral issues on cotton business promotion.

ICF discussed on logistics delay, quality and contaminants in cotton and their Govt. regulations and also proposed a Buyer /Seller meet to promote African cotton and direct marketing mechanism. This is the third delegation which was representing Burkina Faso, Senegal and Mali coordinated by M/s.Dibella India, Bangalore.Our President Shri.J.Thulasidharan along with other directors discussed important issues with the visiting delegates.
