Spanish textile exports touch €10.2bn in Jan-Oct'13

Textile and apparel exports from Spain registered a growth of 14 percent year-on-year during the first ten months of 2013, and reached € 10.2 billion, as per the data released by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of the country.

According to the monthly data on exports released by the Ministry, the exports of apparel sub-sector, during the January to October period reached € 7.3 billion, indicating a rise of 17.5 percent, compared to the same period in 2012.

Meanwhile, Spain imported textiles and apparel worth € 12.4 billion, indicating a jump of 4.1 percent during the January to October period, compared to the same period in 2012.

Imports in the garment sub-sector during January to October, 2013, grossed € 9.4 billion, showing a rise of 3.3 percent year-on-year.

According to the Ministry’s data for October 2013, Spain exported textiles and clothing worth €1.2 billion, indicating a surge of 10.3 percent, compared to the same period in 2012. In terms of the garment sub-sector, the country exported apparel worth € 878 million, showing a rise of 12.6 percent year-on-year.

However, Imports of textiles and garments for the month of October 2013 declined by 1.8 percent year-on-year and touched € 1.3 billion, of which, imports of garments in the month of October decreased by 3.9 percent and amounted to € 1 billion, compared to the same month in 2012.
