INVISTA’S CORDURANaturalle fabrics developed by Huamao Industrial Mill in China are ISPO Textrends Top 10 winners in Membranes and Outer Layer categories for ISPO MUNICH 2014. Developed as a forum focusing on fabric and accessory trends for the outdoor sports apparel and equipment market, ISPO Textrends Forum has become a global showplace to provide designers and product developers with the latest innovations in performance fabric technology.

The lightweight, breathable and waterproof CORDURA Naturalle fabric selected by the Textrends jury to be in the Top 10 membranes category, is a 3 layer laminate stretch ripstop and is aimed at the “Idiosyncratic” megatrend identified for Fall/Winter 2015/16.  A Hua Mao stretch dobby CORDURA Naturalle fabric was also recognized as a top 10 winner in the outer layer category which showcases lightweight but ultra-resistant woven, stretch, waterproof, windproof and multi-layer fabrics for exceptional protection against the elements.

“In our brand’s continuing focus on developing ‘Durable Fabrics for Durable People,” we want to recognize the significant role that our authorized mills play in developing new dimensions in durable fabric technologies, said Cindy McNaull, global CORDURA brand and marketing director. “This collaboration is critical to bringing trend-setting durable fabrics to the market to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers.”

In addition to these Top 10 award winners, additional CORDURA fabric technologies were selected as on trend in the Outer Layer, Second Layer and Soft Equipment categories, including a variety of CORDURA Naturalle fabric constructions suited for apparel used in sports such as hiking, trekking and mountain biking.

Rugged, yet soft, stretch CORDURA Denim fabrics from Advance Denim and Artistic Milliners were also selected in both the Outer Layer and Second Layer categories.  With four times the abrasion resistance versus comparable weight 100% cotton denim fabric, CORDURA Denim fabrics are ideal for use in climbing, bouldering and trekking apparel.

Recently introduced CORDURA Air Flow Technology (AFT) and Lite Plus fabrics received recognition in the soft equipment category. Developed in conjunction with Tiong Liong in Taiwan, CORDURA AFT fabrics are highly breathable yet rugged knit constructions are primarily designed for use in footwear, but also suited as mesh inserts on backpacks and jackets.

The innovative CORDURA Lite Plus fabric manufactured by Korean-based Dong Jin Industrial Mill, is constructed from high tenacity Type 749 nylon 6,6 airbag technology fibers which are stronger than steel.  CORDURA Lite Plus fabrics have excellent tensile strength and are primarily targeted at as lightweight durable solutions for technical packs and bags.

For Textrends at ISPO Munich 2014, fabrics and accessories were submitted by textile mills and brands for a chance to be in included in the top 10 of their respective categories. An assembly of sportswear industry professionals including designers, trend experts and journalists reviewed all the submissions and evaluated each one independently on six different criteria: performance, hand, creativity, innovation, eco/sustainability, and best multi-function.
