Milano Unica expects to attract 19,000 visitors
Feb '14
The 18th edition of Milano Unica, The Italian Textiles Trade Show, opens with good news especially from Europe. In fact, in 2013, exports, representing the driving engine of Italian fabrics, though showing a slight downturn, kept the performance thanks to the figures registered in the Old Continent. The positive projections on the world economy, confirmed by the major international economic institutions, definitely contributed.
At Fiera Milano city everything is ready to welcome again the 19,000 visitors, including over 5,000 international buyers, who had already participated in the February 2013 edition.
Many of them are invited by the 398 Milano Unica exhibitors, of whom 72 come from other European countries, to the extraordinary Teatro alla Scala, for the performance of “Lucia di Lammermoor”, an opera by G. Donizetti, produced by Mary Zimmerman and directed by Maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi.
One of the key aspects to underline refers to the Moda In restyling. “Readily preparing for the expected recovery, Milano Unica made significant structural changes to Moda In, the largest exhibition area within the trade show, rationalizing the entire area in order to better meet market needs.
This year, Moda In features a new look and two macro-areas: In Fabrics, the area where the entire textile production dedicated to research and innovation is put on display, and In Accessories, the traditional space dedicated to accessories for apparel.
In addition to the vast Area Trend, located at the entrance of Porta Teodorico, two additional areas dedicated to trends have been set up: Trend Hubs, one for each “In Fabrics” and “In Accessories” areas.
The Video Areas are located beside the Trend Hubs.”, said Massimo Mosiello, Milano Unica General Director. On the wake of the positive experience made in the past edition, the presentation of the S/S 2015 Directions  by Angelo Uslenghi, for a better approach to the Trend Area and the Trend Hubs, will be held in Sala Asia in Italian at 9:30 a.m. and in English at 10:30 a.m..
Milano Unica events are so important because they represent a moment in which different stakeholders get in touch with top notch knowledge, meet and exchange ideas. A multitude of activities are dedicated to young people, ecosustainability, culture, internationalization and tradition.
In this edition, thanks to a few very special events, Milano Unica intends to orient the spotlights on the young people with two projects that offer new opportunities to those who are interested in undertaking a professional career in this industry.
Milano Unica presents the third issue of the ecosustainability catalogue, backed by Blumine’s experts and promoted by Milano Unica, dedicated to exhibitors inspired by the theme.
