Turkey's Denizli to get textile innovation & design center

The southwestern Turkish city of Denizli would soon be getting a new textile innovation and design center, as the Denizli Chamber of Commerce (DTO) and the South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) have signed an agreement for a project to set up the center in the city.

According to a statement issued by GEKA, DTO chairman Necdet Ozer and GEKA general secretary Suleyman Alata recently signed an agreement for establishing the ‘Denizli Textile Innovation and Design Center’ in order to facilitate innovation, research and development in the Denizli textile industry.

The GEKA secretary general said that the textile industry is the most dominant sector in the city and it is necessary to facilitate process of design, branding and manufacturing of high value-added products in order to bring development in the sector.

GEKA would be pleased to support the research and planning work being carried out by DTO for such types of projects that accelerate regional development and bring in large investments, especially in the textile sector, he added.

DTO chairman Necdet Ozer said the assistance from GEKA would be quite helpful in terms of setting up innovation centers and institutions that can facilitate value-addition in the manufacturing of textile products.

The Denizli Textile Innovation and Design Center would carry out specific research and development (R&D) activities that would be a step towards implementation of R&D departments within the textile industry enterprises, he added.
