Mitsubishi to shut naphtha cracker & EG plant this year

Mitsubishi Chemicals Corporation is planning to shutdown a naphtha cracker and a ethylene glycol (EG) plant for maintenance turnaround in May 2014.
 
“The No.2 naphtha cracker is planned to be shut for maintenance turnaround from the beginning of May 2014 till end of June 2014,” a company official told fibre2fashion.
 
Located at Kashima in Japan, the cracker has an ethylene production capacity of 489,000 mt/year.
 
“The Ethylene Glycol plant, also located at Kashima, will be shut for maintenance from mid-May till end of June 2014,” the official informed.
 
The EG plant has production capacity of 300,000 mt/year.
