According to the ITKIB data, the country exported textiles and raw materials worth $1.48 billion during January and February this year, whereas, textile and raw material exports amounted to $1.33 billion during the same two months last year.
Sub-sector wise, the highest exports were made from the woven fabrics segment with exports totaling $479.13 million during the first two months of 2014, followed by yarn with $307.66 million, knitted fabrics with $281.13 million, and fibre with $108.30 million exports made during January to February, this year.
As per the ITKIB data, Italy was the main destination for textile and raw material exports from Turkey during the months of January and February, with exports worth $172.67 million, followed by Russia with $134.78 million, Germany with $75.24 million, and Ukraine with $60.25 million.
The European Union (EU) remained the main destination for textile and raw material exports from Turkey, accounting for 47.9 percent of the overall textile and raw material exports from the country during January to February, 2014.
Last year, the country exported textiles and raw materials worth $8.39 billion, registering a rise of 7 percent, compared to 2012, as per ITKIB data.
