Caravan Rug debuts modern designer French rugs range

Caravan Rug Corp., a major producer and distributor of high end area rugs based in Beverly Hills, CA, has just announced the arrival of their newest collection of modern designer rugs. The French Collection (pun intended!) is a series of luxury-quality modern area rugs, whose designs draw inspiration from classic themes.

The French Collection rugs are made in contrasting two-color designs. They are hand knotted in Nepal from high mountain wool and fine bamboo silk. And the French Collection rugs are also “high-low.” For those unfamiliar with the term, this means they are constructed with two different piles, one high (the pattern) and one lower (the field), to create a rich variety of textures.

The French Collection currently stars two designs, “Paris” and “Colmar”
Paris modern area rugs feature a partially obscured two-color filigree design that conjures up worn fabric. Like its sister, “Colmar,” Paris is a luxury quality rug, using a high knots-per-square-inch count, which means it has a deep, luxurious pile, is very durable and long lasting, and it took a very long time to make. (All of Caravan’s rugs are made by hand on upright looms, one knot at a time.)

Colmar rugs showcase a classic floral design that’s been “antiqued,” and their symmetrical design draws inspiration from traditional Oriental carpets. The duochrome color scheme is thoroughly modern, however. Both the Paris and the Colmar rugs come in four colors and five sizes, with custom sizes available.

The French Collection and all of Caravan’s modern rug collections are on display at Caravan’s newly-remodeled showroom at 8725 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA 90211 and on their online rug store.

Known for decades as a leading purveyor of traditional, transitional and antique rugs, Caravan is fast becoming L.A.’s leader in trend-setting designer rugs. These inspired designs are capturing the attention of the industry’s top interior designers, and are on track to emerge at the forefront of today’s carpet couture.

In addition to having the largest retail rug showroom in Los Angeles, Caravan is also a manufacturer and distributor of fine handmade area rugs. They supply their branded creations to a large network of dealers all over the country. Caravan owns several manufacturing centers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal, where these rugs are hand woven in the centuries-old method.
