An expanded schedule of educational seminars, beginning with pre-show exhibitor webinar training and continuing with four days of on-site programming, will be offered at the summer 2014 edition of Artisan Resource, Saturday, August 16, through Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94 in New York City.

Artisan Resource is a first-of-its-kind market offering U.S.-based volume importers, direct import retailers, wholesalers and designers the opportunity to meet with international artisanal producers from around the world.

“We’re introducing a pre-show webinar as an orientation to the U.S. market for exhibitors new to Artisan Resource,” said Allison Garafalo, Artisan Resource sales manager. “Additionally, we’ve expanded our onsite programming to add value to the overall market experience for exhibitors and attendees.”

Artisan Resource exhibitors can participate in a free orientation webinar, “Ready, Set Go: Prepare for a successful Artisan Resource experience,” presented by Karen Gibbs of ByHand Consulting. The one-hour session, which will be presented on July 16 and repeated on July 23, will cover topics such as U.S. buyer expectations, booth etiquette, display tips, negotiating terms, export pricing terms, distribution logistics, developing long-term relationships and basic post-show follow up.

Exhibitor-focused education will continue at Market, with two onsite sessions addressing design and color trends in global handmade markets and global distribution issues and opportunities.  Onsite exhibitor sessions are: “Handmade Futures:  2015 Design and Color Trends in Global Handmade Products,” on Sunday, August 17, 8am – 9am; and “From Your Hands to Their Homes: The Distribution and Pricing of Artisan Product for the US Market,” on Monday, August 18, 8am – 9am.

During market week, free “Importing 101: Everything you always wanted to know about importing but were afraid to ask!” seminars will be presented daily (August 16-19), from 9am – 10:30am, for Artisan Resource attendees.  Presenters Phil Hobson of Phoenix International and Colvin English of ByHand will provide an overview of international business relationships, and the logistics, vocabulary and responsibilities of both exporter and importer.
