Scandinavian & global names dazzle at Copenhagen FW

The London College of Fashion grad Asger Juel Larsen blended sporty gothic elements with deconstructive details in his latest collection entitled Interrupt me. Replete with quirkily placed zippers, angular sleeves and vivid textile textures, the range included painted knitwear, rugged jeans, transparent mesh coats, trench jackets and oversized shorts in seaweed green, rust and charcoal shades.

London’s Central St. Martin’s alumnus Henrik Vibskov drew inspiration from construction sites, cement mixers, bricks, swimming pools and other water sports for his The Sticky Brick Fingers line. Decorated with brick motifs and cut-out detailing, the collection, which included oversized shirts and drop crotch relaxed bottoms, was based in round curvy and spherical shapes.

The traditional and modern day Japan played as source of inspiration for Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave, the designers behind the Baum und Pferdgarten label. Crafted from a mix of both classic and contemporary textiles such as silk, cotton, plissé, neoprene and metallic, the ensembles, which were enhanced with oversized, sculptural and drop-shoulder silhouettes, were based on cherry blossom like hues of rose, poppy red and shocking pink alongside an earthy splash of olive green, toffee and evening blue colours.

The Copenhagen-based Norwegian designer Veronica B. Vallenes blended gorgeous feminine silhouettes with athletic clean lines in her Calling All Hearts line. Adorned with striped details and graphic face motifs, the collection was made using silk, organic cotton, stiff neoprene and leather. Based on a palette of black, white and soft neutral tones, the featured pieces were long dresses, pencil skirts, draped coats, slim pants, tunics, boxy shorts and swimwear.
