CCI seminar to address challenges in cotton textile sector

Cotton Council International (CCI) is organising a by-invitation seminar on September 5 in Bangalore titled ‘Cotton: An Engine of Growth for The Indian Textile Industry’.

CCI said this seminar will offer useful insights on the present scenario of cotton and cotton textile industry in India.

Industry experts and decision makers from the Indian cotton textile industry would debate to create a road map on how cotton can further propel the growth in Indian textile industry.

The seminar is tailored specifically for top decision makers in the Indian cotton textile industry and features panel discussions and presentations on the outlook for cotton and cotton textile industry.

One of the sessions will include a presentation on the economic outlook on cotton by David Collins, Senior Advisor Cotton Council International.

Thomas Gladtke, Director Textile and Apparel sales at Applied DNA Sciences Lab would present the ‘Fiber Typing Technology’ at one of the seminar sessions.

A panel discussion will bring together experts from each segment of the supply chain to discuss how successful partnerships can be formed among the upstream and downstream players to propel growth.

In another session, Marc Lewkowitz, Executive VP at Supima would share his thoughts on the responsible production and adopting the right manufacturing practices.

Another panel discussion among ELS cotton user fraternity would try to address current issues in regard to the availability and usage of ELS cotton.

Dr K Selvaraj, Secretary General at Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) will address the importance of cotton for the Indian textile industry.

With new sales channels like ecommerce gaining momentum, Ashish Jhalani, founder member E-tailing India would show a presentation on ‘Opportunity for Apparel Retail in Online Medium’. (AR)
