Other than being the destination for sourcing latest fabrics and garment accessories, Interstoff Asia Essential – Autumn 2014 returns to Hong Kong from 25–27 September, 2014 with a display of highly functional fibres and fabrics.

Other than for sourcing the latest fabrics and garment accessories, Interstoff Asia Essential is also well-known for promoting the most advanced technologies in the industry.

The Research and Education Zone has three partners this year; Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) and Korea High Tech Textile Research Institute (KOTERI).

Among them, PolyU and HKRITA will focus on fibres that protect against radiation and high-tech functional fabrics such as self-cleaning textiles, intelligent impact protectors based on 3D auxetic fabrics, while KOTERI will display its eco-friendly dyeing processes.

Held concurrently with the fair are two ‘Fabrics to Fashion Walk’ fashion shows. Five renowned Hong Kong designers / brands will showcase their creative works in the Trend Forum.

The first show will be held on the first day and features Harrison Wong and Peter Lau, while Flux by Sandra Chau, Modement by Aries Sin and Yeung Yau will be featured in the second show on the second day.

Buyers can also gain design inspiration from the four signature ‘Design and Trends’ seminar sessions, hosted by leading global fashion forecasters, organisers of the fair, Messe Frankfurt said.

Messe added, “Moreover, the Designers’ Studio will feature womenswear, menswear and childrenswear from 10 well-known designers from Mainland China for the first time.”

For visitors who are keen to learn how to succeed in the luxury industry can join a panel discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities of the retail and fashion industry in China and Hong Kong.

Co-organised by advisory firm - People and Projects Ltd and supported by the Italian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong & Macau, this session returns again after drawing positive feedback at its debut last year.

“The fair is more than just a trade event as it combines fabrics, fashion parades, the most cutting-edge technologies and seminars under one roof,” said Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. (AR)
