International Textile & Apparel Fair at Jaipur from Oct 29

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd. (RIICO) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are set to host the third edition of “VASTRA- An International Textile and Apparel Fair 2014” (VASTRA-2014) , from the 29th of October to 31st October, 2014 at the Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre.

The event aims to highlight business opportunities and provide opportunities for launching new products, exploring avenues for new business relations, strategic alliances and partnerships worldwide, and exploring new locations for setting up businesses in India. The show would provide a platform for disseminating technology, interaction with experts and R&D Labs for solution in technology and latest trends.

The event is expected to display a comprehensive list of textiles ranging from yarns, fabrics, garments & apparels, technical textiles, fashion trends technology and machinery for the textile industry. The exhibitors profile expected for the event include exporters of garments, manufacturers and suppliers of dyes, machineries and accessories, fashion designers, research and training institutions, etc.

The visitors expected for the event include buyers and traders of textiles and apparels, new investors, country and state delegations, etc. The event will also host fashion shows, live demonstration of traditional textile crafts, state pavilions, etc.

‘Vastra-2014’ is expected to create a new benchmark in showcasing the best and latest in textiles and apparels and provide enhanced business opportunities for stake holders.

Veenu Gupta, the principal secretary of industries and MD of RIICO said that about 300 foreign buyers and 75 Indian buying houses/agents are expected to visit the event, out of which 200 of them are from 57 countries including Australia, Latin America and CIS countries.

Seven Indian states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Haryana have also confirmed participation, she said.

Vivek Khandelwal, the general secretary of Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan, said that Vastra-2013 had generated a business of Rs. 75 crores, and this year, it is expected to reach target of about Rs. 150 to 200 crores.

Indian textile industry is one of the prominent industrial sectors in the country, contributing about 14 percent to industrial production, 4 percent to GDP, and 11 percent to the country’s export earnings. (GK)
