Open Joint Stock Company, Baranovichi Cotton Production Amalgamation, (Blakit),one of the largest manufacturers of textile products in Europe and CIS countries, would have to establish a joint venture in Turkmenistan, according to the Prime Minister of Belarus, Mikhail Myasnikovich, BelTA reported.

According to the Prime Minister, Blakit has to step up manufacturing cooperation with the countries that produce cotton. During his visit to Blakit, Mr. Myasnikovich reviewed the company’s performance in January-September 2014 and reviewed the progress in the company’s modernization efforts.

Mr. Myasnikovich said that the industrial group has to increase the share of ready-made products in its output and start textile finishing operations for Orsha Linen Mill textiles.

According to reports, Blakit’s output reached Br368.113 billion in the first nine months of 2014, as compared to Br325.523 billion from January to September 2013. The growth rate amounted to 113.1%. In the first half of 2014, the company shipped Br330.874 billion worth of merchandise, 10.1% up from the same period of last year. Exports rose by 50% in the first half of 2014, in comparison to the first half of 2013.

In the course of the comprehensive retooling campaign from November 2013 through 23 October 2014, the company commissioned over 80 units of equipment. By the end of 2014 the company intends to finish the installation, startup and commissioning operations for another 50 units of equipment.

As a result, Blakit will get a modern manufacturing division with the full processing cycle from cotton to ready-made products such as table and bed linen, and apparel.

In addition to manufacturing competitive products that satisfy most exacting customers, the new equipment will allow the company to advance manufacturing cooperation in textile finishing. (GK)
