Arvind Limited, a leading integrated textile and branded apparel firm, has bagged the first prize in the textile sector in the National Energy Conservation Award 2014, organised by the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

Out of 70 textile players contesting for this award, Arvind bagged the first prize due to major energy savings achieved on account of various initiatives, on the National Energy Conservation Day celebrated on December 14, 2014.

According to reports, Arvind bagged the award on the back of nearly 22 per cent reduction in specific consumption in thermal energy and 18 per cent reduction in power usage from last financial year.

The company achieved power savings through energy efficient air compressors, unity power factor, reduction in specific consumption in humidification plant, energy efficient boilers and power savings in lights using LEDs and magnetic amplifiers. Modifications were done in pumps and motors for optimum and high efficiency running along with utilization of day light in the plant.
