The 10th annual edition of the annual public conferences of the European Technology Platform (ETP) for the future of textiles and clothing will be held in Brussels, from March 25 to 26, 2015.

The theme of the event is ‘Textile Research and Innovation in Europe – from 2005 to 2025’. The topic covers a broad spectrum from new textile materials, to advanced manufacturing technologies as well as digitalisation and new business models.

Around 30 high level speakers from the industry, research, and EU policy are expected to display industry-ready results of groundbreaking textile research undertaken in the last ten years. They would give an outlook on major industry innovation and technology trends expected to reshape the textile and clothing industry over the next 10 years and present strategies and policies which will help the EU textile and fashion sector to assert its leadership position in the global market, according to a press release.

Apart from the presentations, the conference is also expected to serve as an excellent place to meet textile researchers and innovators from all across Europe, to speak face-to-face with policy makers and funding program managers, and to look at results and activities of supporting projects and organisations.

The list of topics that would be discussed in the conference include ‘Textile Materials of the Future – sustainability & functionality’, ‘The Textile and Fashion Industry of the Future and its New Business Models’, ‘Textile Materials of the Future – high-performance and new applications’.

In order to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the European textile and clothing industry and to reinforce the position of Europe as a leading global player in the development and manufacturing of fibres, textiles, textile-based products, and apparel, ETP works as an organisation of an effective European-wide expert network involving industry, research organisations, public authorities, financial institutions and other stakeholders to join forces and coordinate their efforts in the field of research, development and innovation to the benefit of the European textile and clothing industry.
