Franz Haniel & Cie takes over Bekaert Textiles

Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH (Haniel) said it has completed the acquisition of Bekaert Textiles from Gamma Holding on June 8, 2015. Bekaert Textiles generated sales in excess of €200 million in 2014.
“Bekaert Textiles CEO Dirk Vandeplancke and the management team will continue to lead the enterprise towards continued profitable growth,” Bekaert Textiles said in a press release.
“Bekaert Textiles is an excellent fit for us with its business model and will enrich our portfolio,” Haniel CEO Stephan Gemkow said.
“With our positioning as a family-equity company, we have achieved success in the highly competitive market of corporate transactions,” he added.
Bekaert Textiles is active worldwide with its sales and dedicated production sites and the rising standard of living in emerging markets is a particularly important driver of growth.
In developed regions, the company and its high-quality products benefit from increasing demand for comfort and growing environmental awareness.
Belgium based Bekaert Textiles is recognised as the quality, service and innovation leader in its industry and the acquisition will be fully consolidated in Haniel’s 2015 semi-annual report. (AR)
