PolyOne Corporation, a premier provider of specialised polymer materials, services and solutions, has joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Group as an associate member.

The ZDHC Group is led by leading global apparel and footwear brands and is committed to steering the industry towards a goal to reduce discharge of harmful chemicals to zero by 2020.

“PolyOne is committed to environmentally sound practices, services and solutions that deliver value for our customers and the wider industries we serve,” said John Van Hulle, president of global colour, additives and inks for PolyOne in a media release.

“Our textile industry expertise means we can apply existing solutions, and potentially shape new ones, that can contribute to achieving the ZDHC Group’s goals,” Hulle added.

Bringing associate members who have a strong track record of delivering specialty solutions broadens the ZDHC technical knowledge base, according to ZDHC programme manager Cheryl Kreindler.

“PolyOne has already brought innovative ideas to the table in regards to reducing water consumption and contamination, which are major challenges for the industry,” said Kreindler.

ZDHC Group was formed in 2011 to catalyse positive change in the discharge of hazardous chemicals across the product life cycle. The Group now includes brand members Adidas Group, C&A, Esprit, G-Star Raw, H&M, Inditex, Jack Wolfskin, Levi Strauss & Co., Li Ning, M&S, New Balance Athletic Shoe, Nike, and Puma, along with a growing number of associate members, and a diverse group of stakeholders.
