Taiwan-based Nan Ya Plastics Corporation is planning to re-start its No.2 monoethylene glycol (MEG) line post-maintenance in mid-July this year.

“The No.2 line has been shut for maintenance turnaround since 11 June, 2015, and we are on track to re-start it by mid of this month,” a company official told Fibre2Fashion.com

When queried about the maintenance schedule of the other 3 MEG lines, the official said, “Maintenance turnaround for No.4 MEG line is scheduled for end of July, 2015; No.3 line in first half of September, 2015; and No.1 line in mid-October this year.”

“All lines will remain shut for period of about one month during their respective maintenance schedules,” the official added.

Nan Ya’s MEG plant is located in Mai-Liao, Taiwan, and has four lines. Lines No. 1, 2 and 3 each have a capacity of 360,000 tons per annum, while Line No. 4 has a capacity of 720,000 tons per annum.

MEG is the most widely used chemical from the glycol family. It is an essential raw material and is used as a chemical intermediate for production of polyester fibres and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer. (RKS)
