India has remained a leader in the production of organic cotton for years. If the country can satisfy global demands for this cotton variant satisfactorily, not only will it do good to the overall economy, but the long standing issue of farmer suicides can also be solved. The solution to farmer suicides in Vidarbha and other such areas lie in the cultivation and promotion of organic cotton and India making an identity for itself as a reliable producer of this variety of identity cotton.
