In order to help Moroccan firms penetrate the American market and identify the best American partners, New Business Opportunities project (NBO) programme was launched on 27 June 2006 in Rabat.
NBO project was initiated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Economic Upgrading (MICMANE), which is a four-year programme, with a budget of USD 9 million.
It is mainly designed to help export-oriented Moroccan firms take advantage of new opportunities for entry and expansion in the US market, emerging from the Morocco-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Project was a part of the USAID-Moroccan government agreement signed in April 2004 and will generate a turnover of USD 175 million and create up to 10,000 jobs.
Equipped mainly in the textile and leather industry, the programme is intended to assist Moroccan firms in priority sectors, build their capacity to develop and maintain long-term commercial partnerships with US companies.
Project will also offer support to business associations to assist in promoting Moroccan industry to US equivalent, through their presence at US trade shows, promotion of Morocco in key US trade journals and arranging trade and investment missions of US buyers and investors to Morocco.
