In May, the slight increase mainly resulted from rises in the price of other services (particularly of tourist services) and of fresh produce due to seasonal rise in prices of fresh fruit, says the Insee, the French Satistical Department.
Conversely, drop in prices of energy limited the overall index increase.
Less notable were increases in clothing and footwear while fall in prices of transport and communication, of other manufactures, and of health products were observed.
At consumer price index (CPI). 1998 = 100, manufactured goods stood at 101.8 in April 2004, while in April 2005 it was 101,5 and in May 2005, it stood at 101.4 showing a slight change on the negetive side at -0.4.
Manufactured goods excl. Apparel and footwear stood at 101.1 in April whereas it stood at 101.0 in May 2005 again showing minor change of -0.4.
