Chongqing farmers picked to pick cotton in Xinjiang

Chongqing, one of the largest cities of China Republic is to send 100,000 farmers to pick cotton in Xinjian Uyghur Autonomous Region of western during the September-November season.
Farmers, mostly middle-aged women are expected to pick 70-80 Kilogram of cotton per day earning RMB3,000 after their stint. More than 600,000 farmers belonging to various parts of China travel 3,000 Kilometer to pick cotton in China.
Xinjiang is the biggest cotton base in China with an annual cotton production of over 1.5 million tons annually. Cotton output is expected to reach 2.5 million tons by 2015.
