India : BIET seminar, a success

The Department of Textiles at Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology organized one day National seminar on ‘Innovations and quality Management in Textiles’ on September 29, for technical teachers, technicians and students.

Various institutions and industries from different parts of the country participated in this event. Five eminent speakers presented papers on various topics namely, innovations in spinning, eco-friendly processing of textiles, recycling of PET for producing polyester fiber, six sigma methodology and its use in textiles and production, properties and applications of fibre reinforced composites.

The speakers from Bangalore, Mumbai, Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu and Ichalkaranji in Kolhapur District were present here. This seminar provided a platform for the teachers, technicians and students to upgrade their knowledge regarding innovations and quality management skills in textile industries.

Mr C N Sivaramakrishnan, Technical Consultant and Honarary Secretary SDC (UK), India, Mumbai and Dr B T Achyutha, Principal, BIET, Davangere were the chief guests. Sri A C Jayanna, Chairman, BIET, Governing Body, Davangere presided over the function and Professor J S Muralidhara, HOD of Textiles, was the Chief co-ordinator.

Textile Technology Department, Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), Davangere, started in the year 1981-82. So far, more than 1100 students have graduated from here and are serving in different organizations in India and abroad. The students of current academic year have also been selected in the leading garment industries like Shahi exports Ltd, Madhura Garments Ltd, Arvind Mills and few have entered IT industry.
