Petroleum Minister kicks off PETROTECH preparations

With less than 365 days left for the curtains to go up on PETROTECH-2009, India's flagship oil & gas industry event, Mr. Murli Deora, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, kicked off the preparations to make it truly world-class.
In a meeting that was attended by Mr. Dinsha Patel, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. M S Srinivasan, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, CEOs of oil & gas companies in India, and senior officials of the Ministry as well as Oil companies, Mr. Deora also unveiled the first Announcement Brochure and website www.petrotech2009.org of PETROTECH-2009.
PETROTECH-2009 is being organised under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and PETROTECH Society. It will be held at New Delhi during January 11th-15th, 2009.
The PETROTECH series of International Oil & Gas Conferences and Exhibitions is a prestigious biennial event that showcases the Indian hydrocarbon industry to the world. The theme of PETROTECH-2009 is “Energy Independence with Global Cooperation: Opportunities & Solutions”.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Deora said, “In the wake of the high-octane growth in the economy, energy independence has to be a nation's first and highest priority since growth is linked with high consumption of energy. For all those engaged in the oil & gas business, India presents a tremendous opportunity to create value and wealth. PETROTECH-2009 will provide a platform to the participants to explore new dimensions, forge partnerships, network and collaborate for an energy-secure tomorrow.”
