Petroleum Minister Murli Deora inaugurates Oil & Gas Fortnight

Shri Murli Deora, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, inaugurated the Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight, 2008 in New Delhi that is being observed throughout the nation with an objective of promoting fuel efficiency in the country.
Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) is organizing the fortnight in association with all oil PSUs, under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India.
The inaugural function was also attended by Shri Dinsha Patel, MoS(P&NG), Petroleum Secretary Shri M.S. Srinivasan and senior officers of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Oil Sector Companies.
The fortnight is observed to sensitize public on fuel efficiency and oil & gas conservation in various uses in their day-to-day lives. The inaugural function was held at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi in presence of a large number of school children.
“For a country like India, where 73% of its oil demand is imported and when international crude oil price has touched $100, fuel efficiency is of utmost significance”, said Shri Murli Deora, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, inaugurating the event.
Shri Deora, while awarding the winners of essay contest on “Save Oil, Save Gas, Save our Future” that carried a first prize of Rs. 1 lac each for Hindi & English, announced that PCRA will organize national level debating competition in order to aggressively promote the concept of oil & gas conservation amongst the youths of the country.
