The environment-protection consciousness has been considerably strengthened among the textile and clothing enterprises in China, as many are employing environmental protection laws in order to enhance their image as global warming has come up as a serious issue among people.

Hong Kong takes the lead in applying environment-protection rules in its clothing and textile industry in China. Besides, the region is quite famous for its eco-friendly products across the world.

At present, around 500 Hong Kong companies have Oeko-TexStandard 100, which is a uniform testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end-products at all stages of production.

In the global arena, around 84 countries carry out Oeko-TexStandard 100, of which Germany ranks first, followed by China mainland, Turkey, Italy, and, at fifth position stands Hong Kong.

In addition, implications of eco-friendly laws have received the attention of Europe and Asia. The 'Hong Kong Environmental Protection Prize' sponsored by HK Clothing Making Association and HK Dye, Print & Progressing Council, has become one of greatest events in the global environmental protection circles.
