Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ), located in Assaluyeh port in the Southern part of Iran, is considered to be the world's largest gas field with around 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates.

Several large-scale petrochemical projects are being constructed in the zone as part of the country's 3rd five-year development plan.

All the 10 petrochemical projects in PSEEZ have reached on the verge of completion, as over 78 percent of work has already been fulfilled.

The Arya Sasol Petrochemical Complex which produces Olefin 9 and the Jam Petrochemical Complex for Olefin 10 are now almost set to start operation. Further, the ethylene and benzene monomer projects will get finished soon.

These projects will add to the present exports of the region. It is expected that the value of export-bound petrochemical goods will surge to US $5 billion by mid-March this year.

According to statistics, since March last year to January, 2008, the country exported 7.026 million tons of petrochemical products, worth $4.269 billion.

Among the exporting products, liquefied gas grabbed the highest share, weighing at around 1.787 million tons.

Among the total exports of petrochemical products from the country, the contribution from PSEEZ, was around 3.058 million tons to the world markets in the nine month period.
