MAKING the leap from market stall trader to running a successful company operating worldwide in just over a year is no mean feat – but that's exactly the rise of young Glasgow businessman Kunal Gupta.
Kunal (25), from Rajasthan in India, founded Areations – a fashion and home textiles manufacturer supplying high street and designer retailers across Europe, America, India and the Far East – only 16 months ago.
He received a £1,000 start-up grant from Business Gateway and in that time has seen his company grow considerably to include the likes of top Spanish fashion labels like Zara , Adolfo Dominguez and many more .
Kunal moved to the city in 2004 and worked a variety of jobs, in call centres and bars, while completing a post-graduate Masters degree in Business Management at University of Strathclyde Graduate School of Busines .
After graduating, he visited India for a short break and while there attended a fashion and crafts fair from which he returned to Glasgow with garments he had purchased and began selling them at exhibitions.
