Jan '08
PTA prices recorded temporary correction and MEG prices continued to drop on Monday, January 28. Semi-dull and bright polyester chip prices were dull, CDP chips and PET bottle slice prices were trimmed amid steadiness.

Acrylic staple 1.5 D × 38mm, acrylic top 3 D × 102mm prices consolidated; CPL, nylon 6 slice prices were in occasional correction.

PSF market prices remained stable. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces suffered heavy snowfall, causing inconvenience in road transportation.

Polyester filament market performed poorly both in price and trade volume. Local operating rate continued to decline. Therefore, polyester filament demand further shrank. Polyester filament market will face greater pressure; its bearish potential is difficult to change in short time.

Overall trade volume of yarn and thread market remained sluggish. From varieties, cotton yarn 32s was salable, but other items had very small demand. Polyester and viscose yarn, cotton and polyester blended yarn had little change in price and trade volume. Polyester yarn 32s and 45s had small demand, price trend was stable.

Rayon yarn market was relatively weak, of which 30s, 40s and 40/2s cut 100 yuan per ton. VSF price declined slightly further, rayon yarn almost had no demand.

Market outlook of rayon yarn is expected to mainly stick to a suppressive consolidation.
