In 2008 edition of Techtextil North America, which will take place next April in Atlanta, ACIMIT (the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and Italian Institute for Foreign Trade have organized a Meeting Point.
It will host about 15 Italian machinery manufacturers involved in the production of machines for technical textiles.
Italian textile machinery industry turns particular attention to the sector of technical and innovative textiles. ACIMIT estimates a growing number of Italian manufacturers offering machinery for the production of technical textiles and nonwovens.
This type of machines accounts for about 10% of the Italian textile machinery turnover, which in 2007 amounted to over Euro 2,700 million.
Also in this sector, the excellence of the Italian technology is the result of the synergy between the Italian textile technology on one side and the local textile industry on the other.
The sector of technical textiles embraces several companies, which are leading in different application fields (apparel, geotextiles, etc.).
The steady research and innovation activities in the production of technical textiles linked together textile producers and Italian technology suppliers into a success alliance.
The large number of countries which are the destination of the Italian textile machinery bears witness to the high quality of the Italian textile technology.
In 2007 export accountedfor almost 78% of the total turnover. Asia (with 42%) is the major destination of the Italian export of this sector, followed by Europe (38%), Latin America (9%), Africa (6%) and North America (5%).
The Italian exhibitors in Atlanta are only a part of the substantial Italian offer for this sector.
