Vietnam, favourite export spot for fiber industry

Although, China holds a significant position in the list of exporting markets for Taiwanese synthetic fibers, in recent years Vietnam has emerged as one of the favourites for the country.

Statistical figures released by Taiwanese Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs show that in 2007, country's exports to Vietnam increased 2.5 percent to 11.1 percent for the same period. On the other hand, China accounted for 33.7 percent of Taiwan's total synthetic fiber exports, down 2.1 percent from the previous year.

It has been observed that for the last few years, textile producers from Taiwan have shown more interest in setting up manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, because of healthy Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) policies.

The BOFT data further revealed in first 11 months 2007, polyester fibre exported to Vietnam touched 28,100 tons for $41.4 million, up by 30.5 and 33.6 percent, respectively over same period of 2006.
