Cotton linter import rushes up

According to the available statistics, in December 2007, China imported nearly 10,700 tons of cotton linter, which was down by 1,800 tons, approximately 14.4 percent in comparison to November. However, an increase by 300 tons can be observed compared to similar month 2006.

The avarage import price continued to go up, around US $535 per ton, up by $48.54 per ton, than last month, which comes to around 9.97 percent.

At the same time, China imported 7,100 tons of waste cotton, down by 4,200 tons, valued at $406.08 per ton, down by $10.21 compared to November. The fall noticed here is around 2.51 percent.

The data further show that in 2007, the country imported 125,800 tons of cotton linter and 155,900 tons of waste cotton.
