Tianjing to set up centre for genetically modified cotton

Chinese Agriculture University and related Government departments have decided to jointly set up a National Research Center for genetically modified cotton in Tianjing city. It will help strengthen the safety of cotton production which gets severely affected due to greensickness, drought, and low temperature.
The Centre will select and breed the best genetically modified cotton in China. It will help the nation recover the loss of, millions of kilograms of cotton, which it faces every year.
It is assumed that within next 5 years the Center will become a national-level research hub to integrate the production, research, breeding and transfer of cotton. It also plan to breed 2 to 3 new varieties in this period.
