Pathways into Professional NeedleArts to begin on May 27

June 6 and 7, 2008: Visit to TNNA NeedleArts Market in Columbus OH. As our guests for the opening ceremonies and enjoy a day at the trade show, interns will get an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the latest trends, fashions, and techniques that the needlearts industry has to offer! They will also have the opportunity to connect with successful professionals who are involved in this unique industry.
June 16, 2008 through August 8, 2008: On-site internship with TNNA member host companies Interns will spend the 8 weeks with an individual host company.
Our hosts are designers, wholesalers, retailers, teachers and manufacturers throughout the U.S. They will be matched with these hosts according to interest, location preference, and availability.
Participating Host Companies:
- Must be TNNA members.
- Agree to provide a mentor to help guide and support the intern assigned to the company
- Provide either housing or a monetary stipend to help defray the cost of housing during the intern's stay with the company.
- Complete a brief evaluation of the student halfway through and at the end of the summer.

Participating PiPN Students:
- Earn 6 hours of academic credit for their participation
- Come from nationally recognized colleges and universities
- May be pursuing degrees in fashion merchandising and/or design, textiles, consumer sciences, business,
entrepreneurship or any other number of interests
- Must be of Junior or Senior standing
- Maintain a 2.5 grade point average and be in good standing
Must demonstrate experience or education in 2 out of 3 of the following:
a. Textiles/Fiber arts and/or Needlearts
b. Design
c. Business
- Must apply to and be accepted by University of Akron.
