EDANA, the international association serving the nonwovens and related industries, has appointed PIERRE CONRATH, to the newly created position of Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager.

Pierre, who joins the team in February 2008, will help to support EDANA's mission: 'to create an environment beneficial to sustainable and profitable growth of the industry participants through the active promotion of sustainable development, consumer interests and transparency'.

Pierre, a 27 year old French citizen, who is fluent in English and Dutch, holds a Masters degree in Public Affairs from the University of Bordeaux (France) and a degree in Economics and Political Sciences from the Laval University of Quebec (Canada).

He will be responsible for managing the association's sustainability and EU public affairs activities, including future editions of its Sustainability Report, coordinating Life Cycle Analyses, current and new EU dossiers and a gap analysis for the nonwovens industry.

In this newly created role, Pierre will bring his knowledge and expertise to EDANA, reinforcing its aims to provide excellence in its services to members.

Pierre has over 4 years experience in Public Affairs, gained by representing and advising a wide range of international and European organisations and industries, which has enabled him to develop a thorough understanding of and know-how in lobbying the European institutions and managing associations.

More specifically, Pierre has represented and advised large companies, trade associations and European federations in a diverse range of areas, such as environmental, chemical and waste-related issues.

Pierre's extensive experience and expertise also includes coordinating EU risk assessments (environment and human health), designing and carrying out EU lobbying campaigns, print and online communications and event organisation.
