NIFT bags award for excellence

Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), recently awarded National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai, the Academic/Training Institute of the Year 2007.
CMAI, the oldest association of apparel industry in India, represents a wide section of manufacturers, exporters and retailers. This organization started the National Awards for Excellence in Apparel (APEX) in 2003, to recognize the efforts of those having excellent leadership quality and help in taking garment sector ahead.
CMAI had tied up with consulting firm Technopak to shortlist the nominees. Technopak, is a world renowned consulting firm, to provide knowledge support and market research for presenting the best garment industry, Apex Awards.
The panel of prominent judges then selected NIFT as a winner. S Devadoss, NIFT Director, said that the award was acknowledgment of the input made by NIFT, Chennai, to the fashion industry and it will motivate them further.
