2007 China's apparel exports to the EU decreased 7.54 percent from a year earlier, mainly due to the decline of knitted apparel, as part of those items were under EU quota restrictions. Cotton knitted garments showed a year-on-year cut of 25.17 percent, synthetic knit wearing apparel suffered a year-on-year drop of 37.47 percent.
Average price of most apparel exports to the EU in 2007 gained from 2006, but knitted apparel prices of the three categories above mentioned declined in a range from 9-17 percent.
In 2007, country's textile exports to the EU still showed an accelerating growth trend. Chemical fiber yarn increased by 61.99 percent on year, industrial textiles, other yarns and other fabrics indicated a rapid growth of 54.45 percent, 44.02 percent and 32.18 percent, respectively. Only exports of silk and wool, animal hair woven fabrics dropped by 26.43 percent and 5.63 percent on year.
Export price of wool and animal hair yarn saw the largest increase of 30.29 percent; both cotton fabrics and chemical fiber yarn were up about 12 percent from the previous year.
