Report of ITMA ASIA + CITME Visitor Road Show

Tirupur presentation was held on 24th January 2008 and the delegation interacted with visitors from India's biggest knitwear cluster. Mr. Ahill S Rathinasamy, President, Knit Cloth Manufacturers Association (KNITMA) spoke at the event and strongly urged the Indian Textile Industry to modernize their machinery to meet global challenges.
Madurai was the last stop in the South Indian sector. Madurai Visitor promotion Road show was chaired by Mr. Rajendran, President, Madurai Spinners Association who highlighted the growing domestic requirements in India and strongly favoured the visit to Shanghai for modernization and capacity expansion.
ITMA Asia + CITME 2008 delegation had the opportunity to address the Press in Mumbai on 28th January 2008 and the gathering was also addressed by Shri R.R. Gorakhia, Director (TQM), Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India who highlighted the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) scheme and its importance in Indian Textile Industry modernization programme.
Thereafter the delegation moved to Surat where a presentation was held to packed house on 29th January 2008. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Arvind Kapadia, President, The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry who also announced the chambers plan to lead a large delegation of Textile machinery buyers to attend the exhibition in Shanghai.
Ahmedabad Visitor promotion programme was organized on 30th January 2008 and was well attended by the textile industry. The gathering was addressed by Mr. T.L Patel, Chairman Textile Association, Ahmedabad Chapter as well. India Visitor Promotion campaign was finally concluded in Ludhiana where a presentation was organized on 1st February 2008. Mr Vinod Thapar, president of the Knitwear Club was present at the occasion and expressed his interest in attending the main event in Shanghai together with a large delegation from Punjab area.
The road shows gave a good opportunity to Indian textile machinery buyers to meet and interact with ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008 organizers and finalise their plans for visiting the mega event. ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008 is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co Ltd and co-organised by MP International Pte Ltd.
