Momentary stability prevails at filament market
26
Feb '08
This Monday, on February 25, prices of PTA, MEG rose amid fluctuations; semi-dull and bright polyester chip prices slightly went upward and, so did CDP, PET bottle slice prices.

Acrylic Staple 1.5 D × 38mm, acrylic top 3 D × 102mm prices were stable; CPL, nylon 6 slice prices sank into consolidation.

Filament market looked temporarily stable, trade volume reduced after the rise in price a few days ago, most weaving factories from lower reaches have already procured raw materials and current market is based on scattered transactions.

Large transactions are scarce and some traders still lack confidence in future market. Later polyester filament market is expected to enter a consolidating period; the probability of consolidation is forecasted to be quite high.

Polyester and viscose yarn prices were stable, but turnover was flat. Sales of cotton yarn 32s, J40s were fair, prices slightly increased by 100 yuan per ton. Polyester yarn 32s, 45s attracted market demand, but prices little changed.

Rates of polyester and cotton yarn were basically steady, of which, 45s has enlarged its trade volume recently. Prices of individual varieties of rayon yarns lowered. The gravity of VSF prices went down. Rayon yarn market is expected to slip downward further.
