Import prices of fibre surge in January

A recently released report from Vietnamese General Department of Customs shows that the import price of fibre in January this year, moved up 13.2 percent against last year.

The country purchased fibre for the production of local textile and apparels at around US $1,687 to $2,744 per ton.

The report also represented February prices of several types of fibre, including polyester fibre with specification: 100 percent polyester 75D/72F/1 SD, B Grade, AMN Grade, ADF Grade, imported from Taiwan is quoted at $920 per ton.

While, the price of raw fibre, 100 percent polyester DTY 300D/96F S/D RW NIM, AA Grade, sourced from China at $1,580 per ton and polyester 167/36/2 fibre procured from Thailand at $2,610 per ton.

Industry experts opined that the import price of fibre may see a rising trend in the coming months because of high price of crude oil in world market leading to price increasing of PTA, MEG.
