Australia has been enjoying warm bi-lateral relations with Sri Lanka for a long time. Both the countries are now making further efforts to strengthen their trade with each other for boosting the economy.
Aloy Jayawardene, the President of Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry, will lead a delegate of twelve member committee on trade mission to Australia in April.
The group will hold meetings with Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brisbane and the Chamber of Commerce and Trade in Hobart, for signing new deals to earn foreign currency.
Experts believe that, the current volume of exports can be improved further as there are many sectors which are unexplored.
According to statistics, trade between Australia and Sri Lanka in 2006-07 is valued nearly US $232 million which included textile and garments.
Small and medium sectors are the ones looking for partnership with Australian firms to increase their foreign trade.
