To bring back the lost charm of kashmiri handicraft, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief Minister and Jai Ram Ramesh, Union Minister of state for commerce and industry on March 17, laid a foundation stone of International Trade Centre (ITC), in Pampore.

The ITC project aims to boost Kashmiri handicraft industry by holding various international exhibitions and fairs. This in turn will attract potential foreign buyers, helping the sector gain overseas trade.

The centre will be constructed with an investment of almost Rs49 crores and Central Government will contribute nearly Rs30 crores to get this project started. It will take two years for ITC to get completed.

Jammu and Kashmir is renowned for its exquisite carpets and fine embroidery on pashmina shawls. With ITC providing a strong support to the state, artisans can now hope for a better future.
