Taitang town of Zhuji City in Zhejiang Province is reputed for being the largest socks production base in China.

In fact, the Taitang Sock Center comprising 5238 booths is also very popular in countries overseas. It covers about 100 mu, including a built-over area of 53,500 square meters.

The Taitang Sock Center mainly consists of three sections. The Light Textile Raw Material Wholesale Market, is the biggest special chemical yarns wholesales market, selling a variety of light industrial raw materials like polyamide, polyester and cotton yarns. More than 300 chemical and fibre enterprises have set up their sales offices in the region so far.

Sock wholesale market forms the second section covering about 50 mu, including a built-over area of 32,000 square meters and a total of 4000 booths. Nearly all the socks brands in China are available here.

Finally, the transportation center covering 15 mu including a built-over area of 6500 square meters, 68 big warehouses and over 150 special vehicles, is the third section of the Taitang Sock Center.

However, starting from 2007, most of the local sock manufacturers have been facing challenging times forcing entrepreneurs to strive for becoming more competitive.

Zhejiang Jiamengyi Knitting Co Ltd has decided to train its employees in culture, production and management. Besides, it has invested over 21 million yuan to import the advanced sock-making machines from Italy, in order to achieve the target of becoming the first brand of Chinese sock industry within 3 years.
