ExxonMobil, the largest publicly traded international oil and gas company in the world, has shutdown a gasoline-making reformer at its Botlek refinery in Rotterdam for maintenance.

A spokesperson of the company told the media that the decision was taken as a part of the shutdown of its aromatic plant.

The spokesperson explaining the entire issue stated that the reformer which processes naphtha into gasoline components and provides feedstock for the aromatic plant, is integrated with petrochemical units that produce building blocks for the plastic industry and must therefore shut with them.

The maintenance work is expected to get completed by the end of April and in the meantime, the company will continue to meet the demands of its customers.

The refinery underwent a similar maintenance in 2007 and last week, the major, fixed an unusual shipment of naphthenic and aromatic naphtha from the Rotterdam plant for trading to Asia.
