Additionally, the company is also planning to establish another unit in Putian in Fujian Province this year with an estimated investment of US $400 million and an expected output of 200,000 tons. This project is likely to get completed over a period of two years.
The country on an average produces 770,000 tons of viscose fibre every year accounting for more than 50 percent of the international production capacity. In fact, since the last five years, market for the fibre is surging by 15-17 percent annually.
The fibre, being stronger than oil based fibres like polyester is ideally used for making reinforcing fabric for tires, upholstery fabric, home textiles and furniture.
The company has resorted to a new process by which recycles over 95 percent of chemicals used in the manufacturing process and uses biofuels for all energy needs.
Viscose fibre has a much higher yield of 6.2 tons per hectare, consuming 6.4 tons of water as compared to 1.2 tons per hectare output of cotton that absorbs around 7 to 29 tons of water.
